Principal Assistant Director Accounting - Investment Accounting Reporting Team in Des Moines, Iowa
Are you an experienced accounting leader with a strong financial reporting or investment accounting background? If so, this may be the role for you! This is a meaningful role that will provide you the opportunity to help drive the Investment Accounting Reporting team at Principal!
In this role, you will contribute to functional strategy by demonstrating a sophisticated level of understanding of business needs and accounting policies. This role will supervise the PGI Investment Accounting Reporting Team which prepares the GAAP and statutory financial reporting related to Principal's consolidated investment portfolio. The team within Principal Global Investors is also responsible for investment income forecast, management and regulatory reporting including rating agency surveys and earnings call materials. This role is a great fit for someone that enjoys a fast-paced environment and likes to dig in and learn new things. The ideal candidate will be a highly collaborative, confirmed leader with an interest in inspiring change and a background in financial reporting or investment accounting.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience required.
CPA or other applicable certifications preferred.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a team of accounting professionals
Provide timely, courteous and excellent service at an acceptable cost to all customers
Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills
Must demonstrate the ability to inspire change, informally lead to get results, and find opportunities for process improvements
Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Statutory (for insurance companies) accounting and reporting requirements is desired
