The Finance Tech performs a variety of accounting and administrative duties in the maintenance of accurate fiscal records. This is a professional financial position that requires a knowledge of accounting principles, computerized accounting systems, and specifically, the application of the general ledger in a nonprofit environment.Position Hours: M-F; 8am-5pmComprehensive Benefits OfferedThis position is located in the Davenport, IA home officeCOVID-19 Precautions: Employees and Clients health and wellbeing are at the upmost importance here at Family Resources. We follow recommended CDC guidelines by social distancing, temperature checks and COVID-19 screenings, frequent hand washing, disinfecting and sanitizing procedures in place and the requirement of wearing of facial coverings provided and required plus addition PPE available.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFinancialCharges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal identification numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments.Coordinate with third party Accounts Payable vendors for automated payment processes.Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.Prepares analytical reports of various projects and expense tracking to ensure proper allocation of project disbursements to various grants and internal funding resources.Disburses petty cash by recording entry; verifying documentation.OperationsPossess patience, optimism, enthusiasm, some amount of charm and discretion.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Client/ExternalServes as a face of the Agency by interfacing with the public when necessary.PeopleCreates positive, inclusive, safe, client-led and outcome-oriented culture.QualificationsAssociates degree in Accounting preferred, High School Diploma or GED required. Two-four years of experience in accounts payable or other accounting functions. Previous federal and state grant experience is desired, preferably in the non-profit industry.
