Purpose of Job
Provides intensive social work services.
Job Requirements
Education
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work.
Experience
Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to complex casework, group work and community problems.
Considerable knowledge of a wide range of behavior and psychosocial problems and their diagnosis and treatment.
Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics, a range of intervention techniques, governmental and private organizations, resources in the community, laws, regulations and policies which govern the program, methods and principles of casework supervision and training.
License/Certifications
Maintain current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred.
Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) preferred.
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients, family members, hospital personnel, and co-workers.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
Ability to learn, retain and utilize computer skills that are required for department and hospital information system.

Promotes positive relations when interacting with patients, visitors, families, physicians, customers and co-workers.

Addresses patient and others by surname.

Provides intensive social work services in serious and complicated cases.
Effectively diffuses crisis and refers to appropriate counseling services as needed.
Complete in-depth assessment of family dynamics and needs, assessment and treatment of patients and/or families with acute or sever emotional disorders, developmental disabilities and mental illnesses; or advanced social work intervention.
Services provided are consistent with the patient's identified needs and communicated timely to the interdisciplinary team.
Supervise and train lower level social workers, students or medical interns.
Ensure appropriate hospital and department training is reviewed as appropriate.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with members of caseload and their families as well as civic, legal, medical, social and religious organizations.
Expresses ideas clearly and concisely and plans and executive work effectively.
Promotes interdisciplinary communication and problem solving.
Attends standard staff meetings as needed.
Essential Functions II
Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.
