Assistsconsumer in articulating personal goals for recovery.
Assistsconsumer in determining the objectives the consumer needs to take in orderto reach his or her recovery goals.
Determinesinterventions based on consumer’s recovery/life goals.
Observesprogress consumers make toward meeting objectives.
Utilizesspecific interventions necessary to assist consumers in meeting theirrecovery goals.
Leadsas well as teaches consumers how to facilitate Peer Specialist RecoveryGroups
Assistsconsumers in setting up and sustaining self-help (mutual support) groups.
Assistsconsumers in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).
Utilizesand teaches problem solving techniques with individuals and groups.
Teachesconsumers how to identify and combat negative self-talk.
Teachconsumers how to identify and overcome fears.
Education and Experience
Preferred : Living and following a recovery module based on individual needs. Role Model competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required: Nebraska Peer Specialist certification
BLS or BLS instructor certification required upon hire
Will obtain the following within six (6) months of employment:
-Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting-APS – IA only
Physical and mental health, emotional maturity and interpersonal competence. Demonstrated ability to effect planned change in a positive manner. Able to work with a interdisciplinary team. Able to appropriately resolve conflict and crisis situations. Demonstrated ability to seek opportunities for personal and professional growth. An understanding of normal and abnormal development across the life span.
Provides recoverytraining and outreach and support to individuals receiving mental healthservices in the community. Works with individuals and groups providinghope, encouragement, support, self determination, and connection to thecommunity. Assists in implementing creating a recovery environment. Actsas an advocate for the needs and rights of every person.
