IA WESTERN COMM COLLEGE Adjunct HVAC Technology Instructor in COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa

This position will be responsible for delivering courses related to Construction Technology.iHVACiTechnology includes aspects of both residential and commercial heating and cooling units. Applicants must be willing to teach a variety of methodologies: face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and video conferencing. This position will teach at our center locations during the day. This instructor will also be responsible for course and lab instruction and management. All construction labs must meet safety regulations. Other duties include, but are not limited to, teaching classroom and laboratory sessions, curriculum development/restructuring, committee assignments, student academic advising, student recruitment and responsibility for materials and supplies.Required Qualifications:iPossess a combination of education, training, and at least 6,000 hours of recent, relevant tested experience in the field.Candidate for this position should have expertise iniHVACiindustry. Expertise should include heating and cooling units, service practices, blueprint reading, and the basic principles ofiHVACitechniques in both residential and commercial. Knowledge of local construction industry and practices. Must maintain lab safety and cleanliness through instructional activities. Usage of an online learning management system is required.Preferred Qualifications:iTeaching experience is preferred. 8 years in the construction industry is preferred.Physical Demands:iRequires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping or stretching. Requires heavy lifting depending on assignment and lab. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires the safe use of construction equipment. use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment, ability to work with diverse populations, and work is performed in a classroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and use a phone, and some travel, by vehicle may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, and working with minimal supervision, a high degree of problem-solving, organizational skills, and high degree of inter-personal skills preferred.
