Integrated DNA Technologies Product Development Scientist in Coralville, Iowa
The Product Development Scientist is responsible for the development, manufacturing and completion of complex and specialized projects for high value customers. It is expected that the knowledge gained from these projects will drive further development by Syn Bio Development Scientists and this role will lead in transferring the initial for further product development and manufacturing optimization.
Develops solutions to novel problems (quickly and effectively), in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where previous methodology and data may be sparse or lacking.
Maintains detailed notes of work and creates clear SOPs from experimental data.
Presents technical information and project progress clearly and concisely in regularly scheduled department meetings and external conferences.
Plays a fundamental role in the expansion of IDT’s Synthetic Biology by placing the direction of development in the context of the needs of the Synthetic Biology business unit.
Actively participates in technical discussions regarding Synthetic Biology and provides meaningful suggestions and ideas to solve broad range of issues.
Works and communicates effectively with members of core manufacturing, customer care, and other groups within IDT.
Maintains current knowledge of the rapidly changing synthetic biology landscape and process tangent to synthetic biology in the context of IDT’s manufacturing landscape.
Acts as a knowledge base for internal and external technical troubleshooting using customer provided data and information, as well as IDT sales and manufacturing data.
Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Danaher Business System and Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related science field required.
PhD in a synthetic biology related field preferred.
Minimum of five years wet lab research using nucleic acids (cloning, PCR, NGS, CRISPR or similar) required.
Vector development, synthetic biology construction preferred.
Previous industry experience preferred.
Experience with lab automation, liquid handling preferred.
Basic knowledge of one or more scripting languages (Python or similar) preferred.
