TAP JOB COACH

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Maintain case notes and documentation of services provided in the IRIS system within the IVRS network

  • Utilize proficiency scales to observational and quantitative data related to Job Candidate’s skills on various tasks

  • Communicate with community partners to get feedback and solve any problems that may have arised to ensure the student is successful in the position.

  • Transport students to job shadows, job sites, and provide on-site job training

  • Provide city bus training

  • Transport students to Community Service visits as a part of their transition plan

  • Attend IEP meetings and share out data as needed

  • Keep accurate documentation on students’ work experience performance

  • Initiate feedback from business partners/supervisors

  • Communicate regularly with TAP Transition team, IVRS staff, parents, Job Site supervisors and other stakeholders supporting Job Candidates

  • Assist students with personal care needs such as mobility, hygiene and special medical needs as related to job

  • Administer interest inventories and related work assessments to students prior to job placement

  • Complete the job task analysis after work sites have been identified

  • Identify and communicate site safety procedures with the employer, student, and other staff as needed

  • Promote a positive image of individuals with disabilities to employers, coworkers and the community

  • Support students and adult clients with resume writing, mock job interviews

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and summer hours

  • Regular attendance required

  • Other duties as assigned

PREPARATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

  • 4 year degree required, preferably in Human Services, Social Work or Education

  • Experience with Google software preferred

  • Must have valid Iowa Driver’s License

  • A driving record satisfactory to the District and the District's insurance carrier.

  • Enjoy working with students with disabilities

  • Ability to take direction from professional staff

  • Willingness to assume responsibility and take initiative both at businesses and within the schools

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Capable of effectively training and supervising students/adults ranging in age from 14-25 in off-campus job sites

The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom.
