Fiserv Strategy Manager in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Position Description

What does a great Strategy Manager do?

You will shape the planning and development of business strategy and key initiatives for the businesses within Fiserv's Merchant Acceptance business segment. You will support cross-functional business teams as necessary to ensure the success of priority business initiatives. You will be responsible for specific tracks of work, primarily focusing on group strategy, individual business unit strategy, product market strategy, M&A strategy and M&A support. Additionally, you will also work on board level deliverables, and external market/investor facing initiatives. Reporting to the VP - Strategy, you will have a high degree of visibility to senior management and executives at Fiserv.

As a Strategy Manager, you can look forward to:

  • Strategy Development

  • Long-range planning (LRP) and Annual Operating planning for each business Unit

  • Strategic projects including new market analysis, growth strategy, partner strategy, M&A strategy, etc.

  • Development of business cases for strategic growth initiatives

  • Sales strategy for specific markets

  • Market and competitive analysis

  • Cross-Business Unit strategy collaboration and support

  • Leadership support

  • Supporting GBS (Global Business Services) leadership to support internal and external strategy presentations (e.g., Annual Investor Day, Board meetings, CEO meetings)

  • Supporting mergers and acquisitions within the business group

  • Supporting and building models for buy/build/partner analysis and other business development activities as required

  • Assisting with the definition and tracking of key strategic performance metrics

  • Ownership

  • End-to-end ownership of multiple strategy projects – thought leadership, team leadership, project management, leadership management and communication

  • Thought Leadership

  • Gaining knowledge and providing insights on specific businesses and markets

  • Remaining current on industry trends, competitors and best practices

  • Team leadership

  • Organizing cross-functional, cross-BU teams and driving strategy work

  • Coaching peers in Strategy and BU teams

  • Upward management within and outside of direct team and organization

  • Project Management

  • Developing work plans, delivery schedules and organizing discussions

  • Research and Analysis

  • Conducting research and analysis in evaluation of potential acquisitions, partnerships, investments, licensing and other strategic growth opportunities for the division

You are the kind of person who:

Has a strong management consulting or corporate strategy background within the financial services industry. You are looking for a high-impact corporate strategy role where you can support strategic growth initiatives. Has strong communication skills and the ability to interact with senior level leaders and executives.

Basic qualifications for consideration:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Management Consulting, Corporate Strategy, Investment Banking, Market Analysis, or M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions)

  • Power user of Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to travel up to 30% (not required until the Covid-19 pandemic is under control)

Preferred qualifications for consideration:

  • 4+ years of prior work experience

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or PhD

  • Banking Technology, Fintech or Payments industry experience a plus
