We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager within our Pro Line Fusion A vionics Applications department based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa . The manager will lead a team of Systems and Software engineers working on the development, verification, and planning of o ur Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) and Link-16 Graphical User Interface (GUI) products, targeted at business and regional commercial flight decks. The EICAS team develops software in C per DO-178B/C certification standards, using the Agile/ SAFe development methodology . Typical EICAS functions include Engine Indication, CAS Messaging and Aural Alerting, Master Warning and Master Caution, System Synoptics, Flight Data Acquisition for FDR, Virtual Cockpit Panels, Analog and Special Processing. The team works on a product line-based architecture supporting business jets, regional jets, and military aircraft .

This is a great role to get experience across the Pro Line Fusion Systems and the Avionics organization. The manager is respons ible for tactical execution of programs, performance management, employee development, talent acquisition/retention, and strategic support of the business.

This is an onsite position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Relocation assistance may be available.

Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibility of the candidate is to continuously improve the performance of the team t hrough development of staff . This includes assigning resources to projects, setting and evaluating goals, coaching and management of compensation, recognition and awards.

  • The candidate will drive the evolution of team processes, methods, skill set , tools and technology; will operate within budgets; and will develop resource plans aligned with multiple VSLs.

  • Work with the Aircraft Applications leadership team to develop and promote a unified vision for the department, and foster employee engagement and empo werment.

  • The candidate will collaborate across programs to identify efficiencies, share resources, and support the development of best practices, necessitating an ability to clearly communicate objectives and status to audiences with varying degrees of und erstanding of the products and technology.

  • The candidate must demonstrate sound decision-making skills, strategic thinking, networking skills, and the ability to accurately forecast resource needs.

  • The successful candidate will lead the engineering team us ing strong interpersonal, mentoring, and negotiating skills . In addition, the candidate will be responsible for adhering to Collin's process methodologies.

  • The candidate needs to have experience in estimating, tracking, and communicating cost, schedule an d risk, in support of bids/pursuits and program execution metrics.

  • Uses portfolio and product line vision to think beyond the immediate situation, and explore multiple potential paths

    Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to build trust and confidence with customers, engineers, technical project managers, and value stream leaders to achieve program and business objectives

  • Demonstrate leadership by example, building trust and inspiring people through a shared vision where people feel valued, empowered, and fulfilled

  • Possess 5+ years of experience in software and/or systems engineering

  • Experience in certifying products to DO-178B/C and A RP4754A, preferably at DAL A or B level

  • Experience executing projects with Agile methodology including Scaled Agile Framework ( SAFe )

  • Experience in proposals and projects execution leadership role that included responsibility for scope, schedule, and budget management

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education and/or experience with EICAS/flight displays/avionics software development and certification.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
