Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Engineer, Systems Engineering in Cedar Rapids, IA. Travel 1-2 times per year to customer facilities in Canada (Toronto/Montreal) for design reviews including Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review and testing activities to Wichita, KS may be required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute objectives for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects.

  • Monitor the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of activities and recommend modifications to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that standards are met.

  • Manage work-processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large or complex projects.

  • Research and evaluate investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization’s systems products and services.

  • Provide analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and develop verification criteria and plans for the requirements.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience in any occupation in which technical experience in the Avionics/Aircraft industry is gained. In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in any occupation in which technical experience in the Avionics/Aircraft industry is gained would be acceptable.

  • At least 3 years of experience working with avionics/aircraft systems and multiple sub-systems, avionics protocols and tools (ARINC429, Wireshark, and Flight Data Recorder data), and Aircraft Systems and aircraft operational fundamentals

  • At least 3 years of experience with Systems Engineering tools and Processes including Requirements Capture (Doors/Jama), Change management (Clear quest/JIRA), and Test Methodologies

  • At least 3 years of experience working within a regulatory environment (FAA/EASA/TC/ANAC) and airworthiness

  • At least 3 years of experience with avionics/aircraft problem solving and hands-on troubleshooting

  • At least 3 years of experience operating test facilities either through simulations, testing on-host or on target

  • At least 1 year of experience working with HIRF and Lightning/Environmental Equipment Compliance.

The salary range for this position is $96,366.00 to $161,000.00 per year. This is the correct compensation range. Please disregard any additional verbiage noted below pertaining to the salary range.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
