Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Principal Engineer, Software Engineering in Cedar Rapids, IA. 10% travel required, both nationally and internationally, to support customer issues in the field.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develops, coordinates and conducts complex tests and debugs control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.

• Liaises closely with other project team members in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software to ensure smooth operations on software engineering activities.

• Recommends changes in the selection and application of software production components to improve and develop software engineering activities.

• Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and function.

  Required Qualifications:

• Must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Software Engineering or a related field and at least 8 years of progressive experience in a Software Engineering position. In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Software Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in a Software Engineering position would be acceptable.

• At least 5 years of experience with In-Flight Entertainment functions like aircraft lighting, audio/video software development and integration;

• At least 5 years of experience with software architectures of cabin management and/or in-flight entertainment systems;

• At least 5 years of experience with mobile application design and development (Android or iOS);

• At least 5 years of experience with Embedded Java, C, C++ programming;

• At least 5 years of experience with computer scripting languages like JavaScript, Python, Perl; and

• At least 5 years of experience leading software proposals and architecture designs.

The salary range for this position is $119,454.00 to $196,000.00 per year. This is the correct compensation range. Please disregard any additional verbiage noted below pertaining to the salary range.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
