Collins Aerospace is looking for a motivated engineering co-op student to help us design, develop and maintain high quality, reliable and safe avionic equipment.
As an engineering co-op in our Systems Architectures department, you will be responsible for working with other hardware and systems engineers to support new and existing products. Projects include support of cockpit displays and control panels, servos for control surface actuation, as well as a variety of other avionics equipment to enable aircraft connectivity.
Investigation of production issues, including developing and implementing solutions
Support thermal and/or vibration testing of products to ensure survivability or for product improvement
Support in-service avionics hardware failure investigations
Facilitate build of prototype assemblies for testing
The successful candidate will:
Be currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering
Have demonstrated problem solving skills and an understanding of engineering principles
Have experience with 3D parametric modeling in CAD tools such (e.g. NX, Solidworks, etc.)
Basic understanding of thermodynamics
Basic understanding of manufacturing methods & limitations (i.e. sheet metal fabrication, machining, casting, plastic molding, etc.)
Be able to work well in a team environment (team player with great attitude)
In addition to these skills, the candidate must be highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and must be willing to work with a wide variety of people in a diverse team environment.
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
