Role Summary:

The Manager of Indirect Tax will lead a team providing guidance on complex tax issues, conducting tax research, and interpreting legislative changes to assess their impact on the business. Our indirect tax scope includes property tax, sales and use tax, fuel tax, gross receipts tax, and excise tax. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement tax-efficient strategies, mitigate risks, and support business initiatives. Strong analytical skills are essential for identifying tax opportunities, managing audits, and resolving tax disputes with authorities. This leader will also leverage technology tools to streamline tax processes, improve data accuracy, and ensure timely compliance.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage the monthly close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate indirect tax accounting functions.

  • Drive continuous improvement and support the adoption of new processes and technologies.

  • Analyze, review, and file required indirect tax returns and track associated due dates and payments.

  • Maintain the organization's compliance calendars for all indirect taxes and confirm all taxes are being filed/paid where required/applicable.

  • Monitor and interpret tax law changes and the impact on tax positions and calculations.

  • Support the internal and external audit requirements.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.

  • Supervise staff and lead engagements and special projects.

  • Transition past paper files and processes to a paperless environment.

This position will be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) with a target payout of 10% of annual base salary.

Education

Required

  • Bachelors or better in Accounting

Licenses & Certifications

Preferred

  • (CPA)

Experience

Required

  • 5 years: 5 years of business experience in indirect tax compliance or audit

Preferred

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, growing environment with minimal supervision

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Exhibited ability to lead a large project

  • Strong tax research, technical, and accounting skills

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Windows-based accounting system knowledge
