Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Child Nutrition Program Requirement.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and or Testing Required

  • ServSafe taken and passed no later than the end of two full quarters following initial employment date.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to provide instruction to a few people.

  • Assist in putting away delivered foods and supplies.

  • Maintain clean body and clothing at all times.

  • Prepare foods for special diets according to the manager’s direction.

  • Ensure that equipment is properly used and cared for.

  • Prepare food items by using appropriate methods and standardized recipes

  • Ensure proper amounts of food sent to satellite schools.

  • Recognize properly prepared food items by sight, taste, and smell.

  • Inform manager of food and supplies needed for department.

  • Assist with setting up serving areas and dispensing food.

  • If the need arises, go to satellite schools to serve food, record amounts of food used and clean up serving areas.

  • Assist with cleaning lunchroom and serving area after use.

  • Perform cleaning duties as assigned by the manager.

  • Drive delivery truck to various schools if need arises. Deliver and pickup food and supplies in an emergency.

  • Assume responsibilities for the assigned department.

  • Assist with recipe testing and product development.

  • Keep daily records of all food and non-food supplies used in assigned department for inventory records.

  • Maintain accurate food production records for the assigned department.

  • Prepare and serve food for outside activities.

  • Compute food requirements for meals.

  • Maintain freezers and storage areas in an orderly manner.

  • Thaw and cool foods in compliance with proper sanitation guidelines.

  • Ensure proper food temperatures and documentation are kept. Calibrate thermometers as necessary.

  • In addition to assigned meal preparation, assist with food preparation in all areas of the kitchen.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Perform such other duties as assigned by manager.

Desired Qualifications: Ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds as needed, have a valid driver's license, basic computer skills, basic math skills, knowledge of measuring conversions, safety and health regulations and knowledge of the Child Nutrition Program requirements. Must complete educational courses including ServSafe.
