Description:

Position Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, assists nursing staff with various patient care activities. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

What you will Do:

Provides safe, personal care to patients

Maintains clean, organized patient rooms and work areas.

Transports patients.

Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include:

Birth-28 days: Neonate

1-18 Months: Infant

18 Mo-3 Yrs: Toddler

3-6 Yrs: Pre-School Aged

6-12 Yrs: School-Aged

12-18 Yrs: Adolescents

18-65 Yrs: Adults

65+ Yrs: Geriatrics

Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.

Hours/Schedule:

First Shift

7 am to 3:30 pm

8 hour shifts

Minimum Qualifications:

Verification (by transcript or certification) of successful completion of Nurse Aide I course or successful completion of the Competency Test. Nurse Aide II-Advanced course is preferred and may be provided post-hire. No prior experience required.

Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties.

BLS. Mandatory Reporter. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.

Performs duties that may involve exposure to hazardous substances. Works in normal patient care areas. May be exposed to infectious or communicable disease while performing or demonstrating direct care tasks. Exposed to the possibility of injury form irrational or confused patients and visitors, or from instruments and equipment. Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced and every changing environment.

Basic language, basic math, basic to intermediate reasoning ability. Basic computer skills required. Ability to work with diverse groups of people. Ability to work under pressure and in high stress situation/environment. Ability to take direction and work with accountability.
