Job Description:

The Memorial Union at Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking qualified candidates for a Leadership and Student Organizations Coordinator (Student Services Specialist II) to oversee the administration of the leadership programs and assist with student organization resources and the student organization recognition process at ISU. The Leadership and Student Organizations Coordinator will expand, develop, support, and promote programming initiatives and resources that address the needs of students in the area of leadership and support the development and formation of student organizations on campus.

Administrative responsibilities of this position include: facilitation of committees of staff, faculty and students; project management; budget planning; and assessment. The Leadership and Student Organizations Coordinator will plan and implement retreats, conferences, and programs, manage the Leadership and Service Center, and facilitate the Student Organization Recognition Board. This position will co- coordinate (with Leadership Studies Faculty) Leadership ISU, a credit-bearing course and Leadership ISU Learning Community for first-year students. Other duties include advising student organizations, advising student leaders in all aspects of program planning, budget development, marketing, public relations, and assessment. This position will maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of student organizations, campus departments, community agencies, faculty, and alumni. This position will supervise and evaluate 1-2 graduate assistants, graduate practicum students, 3-8 peer mentors, and 3 -6 student workers. In addition, this position will perform other duties as assigned such as participating in programming, committee activities, and Memorial Union events.

The successful candidate must have the ability to construct and implement a broad range of educational programming. Must also possess the ability to work with a diverse student body, faculty and staff. The candidate will also possess excellent advising skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
