Work Schedule:10 month contract positionSummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Special Education, the School Administrative Manager will be assigned supervisory duties, including performance management for therapeutic classroom teachers and support staff, oversight of time and attendance processes and procedures, staff scheduling, administration of special education, 504 accommodation, and behavioral intervention.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Assists the Director of Special Education overseeing the Therapeutic Classrooms at the AMES Center.

  • Provides direct support for Therapeutic Classroom staff and students.

  • Assists with planning, development, and evaluation of instructional programs.

  • Participates in student support and IEP meetings for students placed in Therapeutic Classrooms.

  • Ensures compliance with board policies and state regulations.

  • Monitors and addresses student attendance and discipline.

  • Evaluates staff in accordance with district policies and procedures.

    Qualifications:

  • Iowa K-12 Administrator license with Evaluator Approval.

  • Iowa Teaching License, special education endorsement preferred.

The successful candidate will exhibit:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to make difficult decisions with a long-term impact on the District.

  • Competent in research and information-gathering using appropriate technologies.

  • Demonstrates understanding of IDEA, Chapter 103, Senate File 2360, and Section 504.

  • Knowledge and skills with growing teacher skills through evaluation and feedback.

  • Demonstrates a broad knowledge of curriculum, assessment, professional development, school improvement, and student achievement strategies.
