The Office of Design is looking to hire a Roadside Design Specialist 3 to successfully handle erosion control, in the development of transportation projects, that enhance the state and national transportation systems in Iowa. This individual will be an essential member of a team that collaborates with numerous stake holders to develop and monitor erosion control projects. This position requires strong communication skills, knowledge, and experience working with Iowa's native and agronomic plant communities, knowledge of erosion control strategies, and the ability to manage projects in a timely manner.
Develop plans and inspect erosion control practices to support the erosion control measures of the office.
Prepares Storm Water Pollution & Prevention Plans (SWPPP) for the Department.
Provide technical assistance to design personnel and field staff on soils, erosion control, and native plant species.
Provide training for staff & consultants on the latest erosion control standards and regulations.
Ability to successfully utilize advanced software applications.
Analyze challenges, defines successful solution alternatives and proactively solves problems.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from accredited four year college or university with major course work in agronomy or landscape architecture, and the equivalent of five years of full-time experience in agronomics or landscape design three years of which must have been in professional roadside development work;
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of three years of full-time experience as a Roadside Development Specialist 2 shall be considered as qualified.
