The Undergraduate Programs Office within the Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a candidate to fill the job profile Multicultural Student Success who will serve as the lead advocate and contact for multicultural business students, as well as maintain a small academic advising load of students in specific multicultural programs (APEX, MVP, GWC) and other business students in learning communities. Primary duties include relevant student programming activities (including advising the Ivy Multicultural Business Network and other multicultural group organizations as needed), retention and graduation efforts, collaboration with other like-tasked staff/units in the College (and across campus), and supporting efforts in retention funding initiatives (emergency grants, success grants, etc.) as needed.
To better integrate a multicultural focus into the undergraduate recruitment process, this person will also assist with outreach, recruitment, yield, and retention activities for prospective Ivy multicultural business students, closely collaborating with the Ivy Undergraduate Recruitment Coordinator and Scholarship Coordinator. Other tasks will include serving on related DEI committees and work groups and contributing to Ivy Undergraduate Programs Office activities while serving students and faculty in the Ivy College of Business.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills along with an understanding of relevant issues and concerns of multicultural students at a PWI, the ability to successfully communicate professionally in multiple formats (written, virtual, etc.), and possess strong computer skills to navigate and utilize student information systems and produce relevant data/reports. The candidate should also possess knowledge of student development and social justice issues, the ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts, and the ability to work well within a team and with a diverse group of individuals in roles within Ivy and across campus.
