This person is primarily responsible for working on a project from bid through completion. This includes understanding the requirements of a bid and making contacts early, communicating with subcontractors and clients to ensure the estimate is complete, using a combination of experiences and historical data to put together accurate estimates, understanding equipment selection to match the project, maintaining current data on subcontractors and clients, providing accurate conceptual estimates to potential clients as needed, tracking jobs for bid in the area and keeping a schedule, following up on submitted proposals, tracking bid results to better understand the market and updating material database. The bid process will require a detailed understanding of the scope of the job, as well as inclusions and exclusions. The project management aspect including completing projects on budget and on schedule, manage the project budget, meeting the contract requirements, building relationships with clients, keeping track of extra work and compensation, understanding the project cashflow, managing the field to meet goals, completing preconstruction documentation accurately and timely, communicating with foremen and subcontractors to ensure work happens in the proper sequence and effectively working with Accounting for accurate reporting and processing of jobs.
