Job Description

The Program Developer/Training Coordinator will develop courses and programs which respond to the needs of business and industry, as well as individuals seeking employment, advancement, and/or personal fulfillment. This position works closely with other program team members (Operations and Sales/Marketing) in developing scheduling and implementing current offerings and new initiatives. Be responsible for the ongoing development and administration of customized workforce training. Courses and programs will be developed which reflect local demand and observed trends in the state, nation, and world. The Program Developer/Training Coordinator will be in search of the “next big thing” at all times.

The Program Developer/Training Coordinator will abide by the employment contract and relevant policies and guidelines of the Board of Trustees.

This position is a full-time position (261-day contract); with an annual starting salary of $50,000.00. Benefits include medical, dental & vision insurance, $50,000 life insurance, long-term disability, paid sick leave, paid discretionary time, paid spring and holiday breaks, 15 days’ vacation and participation in IPERS or TIAA retirement plan.

Essential Duties Summary

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Commitment to the comprehensive community college and CBIZ philosophy.

  • Development of noncredit courses and programs which are designed to meet the needs of the adult population of the area and are keeping with the goals of CBIZ and philosophy of Southeastern Community College.

  • Implement approved program plans into functional programs of instruction by scheduling of classes, recruitment of instructors, arrangement for classroom facilities, maintain and updating of course materials.

  • Interview, hire, and evaluate non-credit adjuncts. Ensure that all adjuncts meet appropriate experience and certification requirements. Develop instructor orientation and training programs.

  • Revenue responsibility in Open Enrollment, Contract Training, Other Sales & Services.

  • Participate in focus groups

  • Market research and design general training programs & customized training solutions for area industry that align with the growth and the need within career pathways for participants.

  • Continue to assess and revise current curriculum.

  • Work with sales and marketing to develop a training needs assessment to direct resources to areas of greatest demand.

  • Administer cohort programs.

  • Provide technical expertise on effective delivery approaches for online courses, creation of curricular materials, and management of online course content via Canvas and other outside vendors.

  • The Program Developer/ Training Coordinator will be expected to initiate program activity on a continuing basis throughout the duration of the year.

  • Support CBIZ sales and Marketing Director with development and execution of marketing plans for signature programs.

  • Participate in networking opportunities as a way to maintain currency with customers.

  • Travel to meet with clients as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned to promote the success of CBIZ .

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Three years’ experience in training and development in education, business, or related field preferred.

  • Three years of relevant work experience in academic or corporate settings preferred.

  • Experience designing courses, curriculum, and/or training programs preferred

  • Ability to collaborate with others to achieve successful outcomes is essential.

  • Knowledge of computer software applications specifically Microsoft Office programs; ability to learn and develop competency in SCC’s administrative software (Ellucian).

  • Excellent communication skills (listening, speaking, and writing) required.

  • Strong human relations and interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively in working with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to conduct research and environmental scans is critical.

  • Ability to work with other team members to accomplish necessary results.

  • Goal oriented; able to manage time efficiently; organize and prioritize work in an environment with frequent interruptions and hectic pace.

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills, ability to plan, implement and manage multiple projects.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy required.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Physical Demands

The Program Developer must have the ability and mobility to serve a rural service area; travel within the SCC district or state wide is required. Must be able to work on a basis of “available as work demands” in addition to a fixed schedule. Some night and weekend commitments may be required.
