Trinity Health Medical Social Worker I - Social Services - Full Time-Days in Mason City, Iowa

$15,000 Sign On Bonus!

Hours: Full Time, Monday - Friday: 8:00 - 4:30, one Saturday approximately every 12 weeks (scheduled rotation), one Holiday per year (scheduled rotation).

About The Job:

Medical Social Worker I position accepts the responsibility and accountability for addressing psychosocial, financial, emotional, and environmental factors as they relate to patient health and discharge planning needs. This includes, but is not limited to, Advance Directive issues, patient/family advocacy and coordination of community resources, while maintaining professional social work standards.

What we are looking for:

Education:

  • Current Iowa Licensed Bachelors Social Work, Licensed Medical Social Worker, or Licensed Independent Social Work or willing to obtain within 12 months of hire.

  • Bachelor in Social Work required, Masters in Social Work preferred.

Experience:

  • One to three years professional social work experience preferred.

  • Previous experience in acute care preferred.

Special Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge/skills with data systems, continuous quality improvement (CQI), community healthcare resources.

  • Ability to work independently in analyzing data, exercising judgment to arrive at conclusions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.

  • Assertiveness and critical thinking.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully both verbally and in writing.

  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and direct the work of others.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

  • Willingness to accept responsibility and to be accountable for own actions.

  • Must be able to read, write, and/or speak English.

  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

  • Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
