Position Summary Plans, directs and coordinates all activities in the Embroidery and Heat Transfer production areas in the Marcus facility. Utilizes TQM, delegates assignment of duties to supervisors, achieves efficient and economical operation of production conforming with established goals to accomplish corporate profit, growth and investment return
Primary Responsibilities: * Oversees and monitors all production operators in a multi-shift operation. Develops production layout and product flow through specific operations. Maintains close surveillance over department operations through perusal of reports, staff meetings, observation and personal contact. Assures coordination of department responsibilities; budgetary conformance, utilization of work force, skills, machines, equipment and facility. * Oversees control methods and efficiencies and monitors department quality control standards. Maintains productive material flow between all departments and facilities. * Motivates department employees, encouraging optimum productivity. Assists, advises and expedites procedures to resolve conflict. Maintains ongoing and scheduled employee appraisals, including wage consideration, promotions and job transfers. Implements cross training between departments for more efficient product flow. * Supervises the preparation of reports for corporate information and prepares recommendations as to procedural improvements and projects. Acts as a liaison between senior management, supervisors and associates and keeps each informed on matters of policy procedure and production performance/problems. * Participates in interview/selection process to fill key production and supervisor positions. Assures a safe working environment for employees and provides necessary training for development of a proficient workforce. * Maintains professionalism and stays abreast of new developments through contacts with educational institutions, professional organizations, trade shows, publications, and vendors. * Communicates corporate direction, financials, etc. to employees. Promotes/motivates employees by using variable incentive plan to communicate the values of the plan to insure performance for the company and the employee. Promotes teamwork and TQM practices. * Communicates with Sales staff and/or customers as needed to understand manufacturing methods, answer questions regarding customer orders, etc. * Develops new and creative decoration techniques and placements to insure we are current with marketplace trends.
Basic: * * High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and work experience. * 4 – 6 years related experience Ability to attract, retain, motivate and develop associates to maximize productivity and associate engagement. * Ability to effectively address performance concerns and provide the required training and resources to help associates succeed. * Good understanding information flow of corporate policy and direction. * Strong communication skills necessary for interaction with supervisors/associates, other department managers, division heads, vendors, customers, etc. * Ability to prepare and present data and presentations to internal and external customers. * Ability to travel up to 25% * Preferred: * Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or Industrial Engineering
