Description
Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Seed Quality Testing Technical Lead to join our Johnston, IA Seed Quality Facility.
In this role you will support Supply Production & Supply Chain (SP&SC) and research organizations with emphasis on managing seed germination testing activities and supplying reliable data indicative of the sample tested, in a timely manner. Provide technical leadership for development and implementation of quality testing protocols and for routine and nonroutine analysis. Monitor testing to ensure that protocols are applied and to ensure Corteva Agriscience policies, procedures, and business objectives, SP&SC Corteva Agriscience Management System (CAMS) standards and quality guidelines are met.
What You'll Do:
Conduct seed testing in accordance with AOSA, ISTA, customer specifications, plans, work instructions, and any other regulatory protocol governing testing
Oversee testing team personnel in the performance of daily testing activities, including preparation of testing resources that maximize efficiency, assist in testing activities, evaluation of data, interpretations of testing rules, and consultation of testing results
Ensure compliance of all safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
Maintain critical laboratory equipment and technology maintenance and calibration schedule
Ensure timely, accurate results entry and communicate issues to stakeholders
Design and lead effective training and monitoring for routine operations
Identify and drive continuous improvements in collaboration with internal and external quality testing network
Participate and/or assist in internal and external audit, referees, training, and certification activities
Assist in design, evaluation, and implementation of new testing protocols and technologies
Qualifications
What Skills You Need:
Bachelor's level degree in Biology, or related field
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in seed testing, testing laboratory environment, or related field
Registered Seed Technologist (RST) certification required or is willing to obtain RST certification within 2 years of employment (compensation commensurate with acquisition of certification)
Ability to motivate and supervise employees in a diverse team-oriented work environment
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload with minimum supervision
Clear, concise, written, and verbal communication and presentation skill
Demonstrate knowledge of common IT technology, experience with data analysis, quality management systems, and safety programs.
Strong work ethic to fulfill commitment to regular work schedule, and specified hours or overtime during peak seasons, which may include weekends
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and in an environment with repetitive motion.
Physical ability to stand or sit for extended periods, and work in an environment with exposure to seed mold and dust

Certified Viability Technologist (CVT)
Certified Seed Analyst (CSA)
Certified Purity Technologist (CPT)
Master's degree in biology or related field
Experience preparing official seed analysis documents and certificates
Experience with quality audits and audit preparation
Process improvement experience or certification
