Job Summary:

Responsible for serving as an expert in data analysis, reporting and formulating recommendations and providing guidance to other data analysts.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Creates and maintains databases to track business performance.

  2. Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures.

  3. Develops and analyzes business performance reports (e.g. for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies.

  4. Creates and publishes periodic reports, as well as any necessary ad hoc reports.

  5. May require taking business issue and devising best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools.

  6. May make recommendations based upon data analysis.

  7. Provides analytic consultation to other business areas, leadership or external customers.

  8. Data analysis and reporting encompasses a much higher level of complexity.

  9. Provides analytic support during complex provider negotiations.

    1. Evaluates impact of negotiation proposals, iteratively supporting the implementation of value based program.

    2. Prepares healthcare cost analysis to identify new, innovative strategies to control costs.

    3. Analyzes claims experience to identify cost of care initiative opportunities.

    4. Supports the development of innovative payment design and proposed enterprise and market-level enhancements to payment terms to encourage value-based arrangements.

    5. Creates Cost of Care Savings Models to assess ROI of value-based programs.

    6. Extract data from multiple data warehouses using SQL/SAS for analytics and reporting.

Provider Contract/Cost of Care Consultant

  • Requires a BS/BA degree in business, computer science, engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in broad-based analytical, managed care payer, or provider environment.

  • Any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical software is required.

  • Ability to manipulate large sets of data.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, presentation, and problem solving skills.

  • Experience in Value-Based Arrangements is strongly preferred.

  • 3 years of SQL and/or SAS experience required, SAS experience strongly preferred.

  • Intermediate Excel skills required - Ability to create pivot tables, complex graphs, use VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP, as well as nested IF statements and mathematical equations.

  • This job is more focused on higher level technical expertise, mentoring staff in lower job levels, more customer facing, higher level of collaboration, work is higher volume and/or higher risk, and modeling as compared to the Bus Info Analyst Sr job.

Provider Contract/Cost of Care Consultant Sr

  • Requires BA/BS degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related field.

  • 7 years experience in broad-based analytical, managed care payor or provider environment; in depth experience in statistical analysis and modeling.

  • Any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Experience providing leadership in evaluating and analyzing complex initiatives required.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • 3 years of SQL and/or SAS experience required, SAS experience strongly preferred.

  • Intermediate Excel skills required - Ability to create pivot tables, complex graphs, use VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP, as well as nested IF statements and mathematical equations.
