CARE INITIATIVES Certified Medication Aide in CORALVILLE, Iowa

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITIONUnder on-site supervision of a licensed nurse, the Medication Aide administers oral and topical medications to residents, as ordered by a physician, in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations. Operates within the constraints of established policy and procedure consistent with accepted/allowed standards of practice relevant to certification.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSFollow established standards of nursing practices to implement facility policies and procedures related to medication administration.Interpret existing policies and procedures related to medication administration to nursing assistants, restorative nursing assistants, residents, families and physicians.Obtain report from nurse being relieved and record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.Administer medications to residents in an accurate, timely manner.Monitor residents and report effectiveness of drug therapy and occurrence of adverse effects to a Licensed Nurse.Qualifications: Education/Certification/LicenseCurrent, valid Iowa certification as a Nursing Assistant, as evidenced by listing on Iowa's Nurse Aide Registry.Current, valid Iowa certification as a Medication Aide.High school diploma or equivalent.KnowledgeNoneExperienceNoneSkills/AbilitiesFunctional Literacy in written and spoken English.Proficient interpersonal relationships and communication skills.Ability to follow written and oral instructions.Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately.DELEGATION OF AUTHORITYAuthority is delegated to the individual in this position to:Follow established facility policies and procedures to administer medications to residents in accordance with physician's orders.Provide emergency care to resident when necessary.Requisition adequate medications and supplies to administer mediations in a timely manner.Participate in supervision of care provided to residents.EOE / AAP Veterans and Disabled
