Job Description SummaryCompany Overview:This position will be with AEGON Asset Management, the organization which oversees asset management for many of Transamerica's insurance and operating companies as well as third party clients. The global AEGON Asset Management organization has operations in Europe, the United States and Asia. Primary offices in the United States are located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Baltimore, Maryland. AEGON Asset Management and Transamerica are both part of the AEGON NV group of companies. The legal entities that comprise AEGON Asset Management US are AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC and AEGON USA Investment Management, LLC. AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC manages commercial real estate, commercial mortgage loans and other real estate related investments. AEGONUSA Investment Management, LLC, is a registered investment adviser that manages fixed income assets, including public bonds, private placements, derivatives and alternative investments. Position Overview: The Accountant I position will support the Partnership Accounting Team in accounting for the partnership assets owned by Aegon as well as the tax credit assets owned by the Garnet Funds. The Garnet Funds are owned primarily by third-party investors and are managed by Aegon.Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily/monthly/quarterly journal entries and enter into ALPS (core system) or GEAC.

  • Prepare account reconciliations and investigate variances.

  • Upload tax benefit schedules into ALPS.

  • Enter tax credit/loss true-ups into ALPS and inquire of asset management about significant variances from projections.

  • Run amortization application that calculates the cost amortization of the assets on a STAT and IFRS basis. Analyze significant changes in amortization.

  • Run IRR application on all assets and assist asset management in identifying reasons for variances from month to month.

  • Prepare Schedule BA’s to be included in statutory financial reports.

  • Prepare Statement of Changes and other reports required for IFRS reporting.

  • Assist in preparing various reports and answer questions for Asset Management, Corporate Tax, Business Unit Support and others as needed.

  • Participate in projects involving the Tax Credit Accounting group.

  • Document processes and/or procedures

  • Comply with internal risk policies and controls and maintain evidence in an effective manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • 0-2 years experience, with a degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience in a financial services

  • Very strong customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to anticipate and proactively address underlying customer needs to ensure positive outcomes for our clients.

  • Attention to detail, along with strong accounting, analytical, and organizational skills are required

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with a variety of internal and external parties

  • Proficiency with Windows, Excel and software systems

Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of his/her relevant experience and other job related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
