Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Human Development and Family Studies department at Iowa State University is seeking an Instructional Development Specialist. This position will serve as the project-lead for the design, development, and implementation of enhanced blended, web-based, and in-person courses/materials provided through the ISU Child Welfare Research and Training Project’s (CWRTP) Child Support Recovery Unit (CSRU) contract with the Iowa Department of Human Services (IDHS). This will include developing SCORM-compliant coursework, using instructional design software or standard scripting languages. This position will collaborate with trainers, programmers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and attorneys to plan, develop, and test instructional content, technical documents, and strategies for delivering training to adults employed as IDHS professionals. This individual will utilize the project’s instructional design process (ADDIE: Analyze, Develop, Design, Implement, and Evaluate). In addition, this position will be responsible for planning, writing, editing, proofreading, formatting, and publishing a variety of training materials, job aids, and other technical documentation. The successful candidate will possess strong technical writing skills.

Travel will be required for meetings on ISU campus, and to provide in-person training to child support field staff throughout Iowa.
